Gaoqi International Airport

Location: 24°32'N 118°07'E

Description: A civilian airfield served by China Northwest Airlines with an 8,858 foot long runway and most likely also available to support military operations. On the north end of Xiamen Island west of Jinmen (Chin-Men or Quemoy) Island. An expansion project lastered between 1993 and 1996. The has 22 airways and is a major aviation hub in East China, serving 52 domestic and international destinations with more than 380 flights a week. A report in March 2000 revealed that the PLA Air Force was building air defense base near Gaogi. These batteries are likely comprised of Russian S-300 missiles.
